Elvira Nunziata entered Pinellas Park Care and Rehabilitation Center in August 2003. One afternoon, in October 2004, Elvira Nunziata slipped away from a group of residents at the Pinellas Park Care and Rehabilitation Center. Even though she had censors that alert staff to where she goes, an hour passed before anyone noticed she was mssing. Then staff checked an emergency exit door stairwell. Ms. Nunziata, still strapped in her wheelchair, was at the bottom of the staircase. She died shortly after paramedics arrived.
